Nick Wright Believes the Ravens Can Have the Best Offense in the NFL if Lamar Jackson Improves on 1 Specific Skill

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off of a disappointing 2018 season, but there is hope for the future. Quarterback Lamar Jackson has shown potential to be one of the best in the league and Nick Wright believes that if he improves on one skill, the offense will be unstoppable.

The lamar jackson playoff record is a statistic that shows Lamar Jackson’s playoff record. Lamar Jackson has never won a playoff game in his career and Nick Wright believes he can have the best offense in the NFL if he improves on 1 specific skill.

The 2023 season will be crucial for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.

Since being selected in 2018, Jackson has led the Ravens to unprecedented success. They’ve reached the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, and Jackson won MVP in 2019. Following Josh Allen’s recent contract with the Buffalo Bills, Jackson is next in line for a big payout.

Despite this, the Ravens’ starting quarterback has yet to make it to the Super Bowl. According to one ESPN expert, they’re close, but Jackson has to improve on one particular ability in order to take his team’s offensive to the next level.

According to ESPN’s Nick Wright, the Baltimore Ravens may have the greatest offensive in the NFL if Lamar Jackson improves his passing skills.

“The Ravens will be the greatest offensive in football if Lamar’s passing improves somewhat, since no one can match Lamar’s running game. If Mahomes is 100 percent, Lamar doesn’t need to be a 96 quarterback. He needs to be an 84; he’s now a 78.” pic.twitter.com/6FkX2p7amZ — @getnickwright

ESPN’s Nick Wright delves into the Ravens’ offensive and what they need to accomplish going forward to become the top offense in the NFL during a recent episode of “First Things First.” Wright concentrated on Jackson and how a little improvement in the passing game would propel Baltimore to the top of the league:

“Lamar is very successful at what he does,” Wright added. “The issue for Lamar is — and I believe everyone realizes it — can his throwing develop just a little bit, because if it does, they’ll be the greatest offense in football because nobody can accomplish what he can do on the ground and what he enables the rest of their rushing game to do.”

Wright went on to say:

“If Mahomes is a 100-out-of-100 quarterback, he (Jackson) doesn’t need to throw the ball at a 96. He has to have the mentality of an 84. Right now, I’d say he’s a 78… He just needs to improve little as long as his athleticism remains.”

For the rest of the NFL, a better Lamar Jackson is terrifying.

Ravens’ offensive coordinator Lamar Jackson has improved his mechanics, according to Greg Roman, which has resulted in more spirals this summer.

“Is the ball becoming tighter as it spins? I believe that is “Roman remarked. “I believe you can see some concrete indications that the effort is paying off.”

Wright is correct in his assessment of Jackson and the Ravens’ offense. Their rushing game is outstanding, but their passing game regressed in 2023 when compared to 2019.

In 2019, Jackson passed for 3,127 yards and 36 touchdowns, while in 2023, he threw for 2,757 yards and 26 touchdowns. Even with Jackson as quarterback, the Ravens won 11 games last season. However, their offensive took a small step back, which was evident. Despite winning a game in the playoffs, the Ravens’ ineptitude to play from behind was revealed once again.

With his passing, Jackson does not need to become Patrick Mahomes-like, as Wright said. Instead, he has to slightly improve his game so that Baltimore can pull off a few of postseason comebacks. Most Super Bowl-winning teams have a quarterback capable of leading second-half comebacks via the air, as good as Jackson is because of his exceptional running abilities.

This summer, the Baltimore Ravens made a significant investment on the wide receiver position.

The Ravens themselves seem to understand the need of improving their passing game in the future. They picked WR Rashod Bateman with one of their first-round selections this past spring, thus ensuring his role as a high-volume pass-catcher in 2023.

The absence of a genuine WR1 on the Ravens’ roster is one of the reasons Jackson has difficulty throwing the ball at times. Bateman should be able to assist in resolving the problem.

It’s unclear how much time Jackson has spent this summer focusing on his passing, but a better version of himself would be a huge headache for the rest of the league. It’ll be fascinating to see what new plays or ideas Baltimore uses to encourage Jackson to throw the ball downfield more often.
